Who Will Win Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins? A.I. Predicts
The Bills hope to keep their season alive.
The Buffalo Bills have not made the playoffs since 1999. If they want to change that, they must beat the Miami Dolphins and cross their fingers that things fall precisely their way. A hive mind of about 30 NFL fans predicts the Bills will win Sunday.
Like the Los Angeles Chargers, the Bills are on the outside looking in for the AFC’s two wild card playoff spots. If they do win, they make the playoffs in [nine of 30 possible combinations](https://twitter.com/NFLResearch/status/945743426858893312/photo/1] of results for the other AFC games with playoff implications. They need to get the win in every last one of those scenarios, though, if they want to jump either the Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, or both. There are even three scenarios in which Ravens and Titans losses push the Bills all the way to the five seed, giving them a first round match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs. But never mind who they would play: They first just need to make the damn playoffs at all. That requires a win over a Dolphins team that has already proven it can upset teams with playoff aspirations.

To predict the result of this and other games, Unanimous A.I. used what’s known as swarm intelligence to forecast the week’s slate. About 30 NFL fans worked together as a hive mind to make picks. As you can see in the animation below, each participant controlled a little golden magnet and used it to drag the puck toward the answer they thought was the most likely outcome. As the users saw the puck move toward a particular outcome, it triggers a psychological response. They readjust their decision-making, building toward a consensus. Unanimous A.I. has made some scarily accurate predictions in the past using swarm intelligence, as our previous article explains. For instance, the swarm went a perfect 7-0 in its most recommended picks for an English Premier League slate earlier this season.
The hive mind predicts the Bills will win, albeit with low confidence and 83 percent brainpower.
The swarm picks the Bills to win by four to six points with 86 percent brainpower. The Vegas line has Buffalo by three points.
