After losing his hammer in Thor: Ragnarok, the God of Thunder will probably wield something different when he returns in Avengers: Infinity War. And there might already be proof as to what Thor will swing in place of Mjolnir when he returns to Earth. Rumor has it, he’s getting a six axe.
Possible spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War.
On Friday, the website BrickShow managed to find a description of a forthcoming Marvel LEGO set which might reveal Thor’s new axe. One set is apparently called “The Search for Thor’s Weapon,” and the description contains the line “Join the Avengers, who are trying to find the ax-thunderbolt for Thor.”
If this is to be believed, it means at some point, Thor will get an Axe of some kind in Infinity War. In a way, this is a reference to Ultimate Thor of the comics, in which Thor uses an Axe Hammer instead of Mjolnir. Also, in the Ultimates comics continuity, Thor’s Axe Hammer gets enhancements thanks to a little help from his old friend, Tony Stark. While this is cool, it might not be necessary for Infinity War because when we last saw Thor in Ragnarok, he was capable of controlling lighting without the aid of his special hammer. So maybe a new axe will be mostly for show?

Early promotional art for Infinity War did show Thor swinging some kind of weapon with a handle similar to his old hammer, but it could be totally different. Plus, Thor’s entire appearance in the first Infinity War footage was altered after the release of Ragnarok to account for the fact that he lost one of his freaking eyes. Meaning, when it comes to what Thor is doing in Infinity War, we should know by now, all bets are totally off.
