Raptors are the least of our heroes’ worries in the latest teasers and trailers for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The film’s first official full-length trailer will premiere on Thursday, but that hasn’t stopped the slew of pre-trailer teasers from promising fans more action, explosions, and dino thrills than ever before.
Even without the full-length trailer to go off of, Fallen Kingdom already looks to be a ridiculously exciting, action-packed film. Universal Pictures has released several teaser clips, a parody video, and a behind-the-scenes look this week. What have we learned from these videos? Let’s break it down.
On Tuesday, fans got a parody teaser for the upcoming Fallen Kingdom and it’s about as weird and full of Easter eggs as you could ever want. In the parody teaser, Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), and former Vine star and current “intern” Zach King rush to release Thursday’s upcoming full-length trailer. Complications arise, though, when the lights go out and a raptor seems to be closing in. King is revealed to have strange magic powers that turn a television screen into a poster, Pratt’s iPhone into a flashlight, and the poster into a floppy disk.
The crew drops several references to the original Jurassic Park films, including a line from Pratt (Sam Neill’s “When you gotta go, you gotta go”) and a reference from Howard (Ariana Richards’ “It’s a UNIX system! I know this!”). After dodging the supposed raptor, which has torn up a computer screen with its enormous claws and seems to be hiding in the shadows, the gang almost manages to upload the trailer.
Then the raptor kind of turns out to be a cat in a dino costume? It’s unclear just what the parody is getting at other than being a way to show off Pratt and Howard’s comedy chops.
As for the more serious teasers surrounding the film thus far, the filmmakers have teased more dinosaurs than ever seen before in a Jurassic Park film. Since this is the fifth go at a Jurassic film, more dinosaurs only seems appropriate.
