The first Avengers: Infinity War trailer, which hit the web with appropriate fanfare after a lengthy wait, had just about everything. There was Thanos, finally getting out of his throne to unleash hell! Look! Thor meeting the Guardians of the Galaxy! Doctor Strange and Tony Stark Saving New York City. Wakana! Spider-Man’s new suit!
However, one little thing, literally, was missing. Fans wondered where Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man was amidst all the action. By some reports, Infinity War will feature 67 characters, and Rudd is listed among the cast. He also appeared, in costume, in a fundraising video filmed on the set with other cast members.
By all accounts, Ant-Man is in the movie, but where? Newsweek suggests that Ant-Man and the Wasp might already be in the Quantum Realm. Wasp actress Evangeline Lilly recently said it would play a huge role in shaping the MCU’s “Phase IV.” Maybe the smallest heroes are getting a head start.
Or, maybe, they were in the trailer, just very small. Here are five scenes that could actually feature Ant-Man and the Wasp, they’re just too tiny to make out.
5. Is This Ant-Man?
Maybe that’s Scott Lang hiding amidst some debris in the streets of New York giving Doctor Strange some backup. It’s hard to say definitively one way or another.
4. Is This Ant-Man?
Captain America: Civil War already proved that Ant-Man can shrink down and fit inside of Iron Man’s suit. Is that what we’re seeing in this scene? Who is to say?
3. Is This Ant-Man?
If Ant-Man is participating in the big battle in Wakanda and he hasn’t changed his size to become giant, it’d be pretty hard to see him amidst the chaos and tall grass.
2. Is This Ant-Man?
Marvel’s really bad summer event series Secret Empire, the one that essentially turned Captain America into a Nazi, ended when Ant-Man shrank down so small that he could enter a miniature universe with the reality-altering Cosmic Cube. Here, Loki is holding the Space Stone, not the Cosmic Cube, but they’re the same shape, so maybe Ant-Man’s in there? Difficult to determine.
1. Is This Ant-Man?
The ground is so far away in this scene that Ant-Man wouldn’t even need to be shrunk down in order to be hard to see. For all we know, a full-sized Scott Lang could be in any of these New York City windows. It really is impossible and downright irresponsible to say that he for sure isn’t there at this time, given what we know about Infinity War.
Avengers: Infinity War comes out on May 4, 2018.
