It’s been a while since the New England Patriots were back in Boston (well, Foxborough, if we’re being technical). Can they shake off the rust of a long, weird road trip when they take on the struggling Miami Dolphins? A hive mind of NFL fans predicts the Patriots will win Sunday.

At this point, the Patriots might need a quarter to get used to playing not at altitude, after successive trips to the Denver Broncos and Mile High Stadium and then the even higher altitudes of last week’s Mexico City game against the Oakland Raiders. The Dolphins need to pull off a shocking upset here to remain in playoff contention. Only problem? Miami hasn’t managed to win a game in Foxborough against 2008. That’s the season Brady missed with an ACL injury, so the last time he lost to the Dolphins at home was 2008. No pressure, Miami!

To predict the result of this and other games, Unanimous A.I. used what’s known as swarm intelligence to forecast the week’s slate. About 30 NFL fans worked together as a hive mind to make picks. As you can see in the animation below, each participant controlled a little golden magnet and used it to drag the puck toward the answer they thought was the most likely outcome. As the users saw the puck move toward a particular outcome, it triggers a psychological response. They readjust their decision-making, building toward a consensus. Here’s Unanimous A.I. founder Louis Rosenberg explaining swarm intelligence at a recent TEDx Talk.

Unanimous A.I. has made some scarily accurate predictions in the past using swarm intelligence, as our previous article explains. For instance, the swarm went a perfect 7-0 in its most recommended picks for a recent English Premier League slate.

The swarm predicts the Patriots will win with high confidence. There’s 93 percent brainpower behind that pick.

The swarm almost picked the Patriots to win by 10 to 12 points, but then it elected to go with 13 or more points instead. There was 76 percent brainpower behind that eventual prediction. Vegas favors the Patriots by 16 points.

The game kicks off 1 p.m. Eastern Sunday on CBS.
