'Star Wars: Battlefront 2' Launch Trailer Has Rey in a Huge Battle
The latest ignores canon confusion to create an exciting trailer.
by Corey PlanteThe Star Wars: Battlefront II launch trailer released during Sony’s showcase at Paris Games Week, and it shows tons of battle footage set during every Star Wars era ever, including Rey fighting in an epic battle against some stormtroopers.
Most of the footage from the new sizzle reel shows things we’ve seen before: Darth Maul taking down a bunch of soldiers before squaring off against Yoda, tauntauns carrying Rebels, and an AT-ST walker turning on nearby stormtroopers. But we also get a glimpse of the iconic duel between Luke and Vader aboard the second Death Star. It’s hard to tell what’s from the canon story mode of the game and what’s just scenes from the non-canon multiplayer, which is how we get to see Maul versus Yoda.
Towards the end, there’s also a battle that takes place at night with a spider-looking ship attacking a city. Does this take place during the Empire-focused campaign, in which you play as the badass Iden Versio in the 30 years in between the original and new trilogy? Maybe, because right after this shot, she says, “The Empire’s time has come.”
Star Wars: Battlefront II will be released November 17, 2017.
