'Black Panther' Trailer Is the Most Lit Thing Marvel's Ever Made

by James Grebey

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken audiences beyond the Milky Way, introduced them to several literal gods, and opened up a whole world of magic. Yet, if a new trailer for Black Panther is anything to go by, it looks like Wakanda is going to be even cooler than anything we’ve seen in the MCU before. In other words, it’s lit.

The trailer, which mercifully hit the web on Monday morning, opens with Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) echoing that same sentiment, telling the Black Panther, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), that the truth of what Wakanda really is far exceeds anything he’s seen before — and he’s seen a lot.

The rest of the epic spot previews the challenges T’Challa will face as king, including Ulysses Klaw’s external threat and Erik Killmonger’s rebellion from within. Michael B. Jordan, in particular, looks incredibly cool and threatening, and there’s a brief glimpse of his Golden Jaguar suit.

Marvel fans are still waiting for an official release of the Infinity War trailer, but Black Panther looks bolder and more unexpected than anything a bigger Avengers movie could throw at us. And that Infinity War trailer probably won’t include a blood-pumping remix of Vince Staples’ “BagBak” with some of Gil Scott-Heron’s “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” weaved in.

Marvel also unveiled a new poster, which looks like an Afrofuturism-Art Deco fusion. It’s also lit, and you can see it below.

Black Panther opens on February 16, 2018.
