Evidence Is Mounting: Somebody Is Going to Die in ‘Infinity War’

Infinity War is going to be jam-packed with tons of heroes, and with the stakes so high, it seems like there’s a good chance at least one of them is going to die during the course of the film. Now, there’s more evidence that, yes, someone’s going to bite the dust.

The supposed proof comes from a Central Casting Georgia casting call which went up on October 14 (via MCU Exchange). The casting call reads:

Mourners: Looking for men and women over the age of 18, all ethnicities, to portray mourners. Especially looking for good character looks and expressive faces. This will be photo selected by the film’s directors! Size restrictions: Men no larger than 44 coat, women dress size 0-8. FOR NEW FACES ONLY! You cannot have worked on this project previously, or be booked on upcoming days. NO EXCEPTIONS!

It’s not final proof, of course. Maybe it’s a flashback rather than the direct result of a fatality in the third Avengers. Plus, with the Reality Stone and Time Stone in play, there’s a chance any death could be reversed eventually. However, the fact that the film’s directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, are going to be picking the people in the scene directly means it might have more lasting significance.

So, who’s it going to be? If we follow the trajectory of characters in the comics, take into account concluding actor contracts, and factor in whose death would have the largest impact, Chris Evans’ Captain America seems likely. Maybe Iron Man will go down with him, taking two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest heroes off the table and really starting afresh with the next phase of Marvel films.

No matter who dies, though, since the trailer isn’t too far off, it won’t be long until there’s more to base our Infinity War death pool on.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4, 2018. Avengers 4 is scheduled for May 3, 2019.
