'Star Wars: Last Jedi' Trailer and Tickets: When Do They Drop?

by Ryan Britt

The next new trailer for Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi will finally drop on Monday, October 9 sometime after 8:15 pm eastern time.

On Sunday, Lucasfilm and Dave Itzkoff of the New York Times confirmed the new trailer would debut during halftime of Monday Night Football on October 9. This means the trailer will drop sometime around 10 pm eastern time. On Twitter, a teaser surfaced showing Rey swinging her lightsaber triumphantly. Mark Hamill had previously teased that this was a probable date for a new trailer.

Advanced tickets for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will go on sale directly after the trailer drops. In 2015, the trailer for The Force Awakens in which Han Solo said “it’s true, all of it,” also aired during an NFL game, at which point tickets also went on sale. The difference between then and now is that at that point in 2015, there had already been two trailer for The Force Awakens. For The Last Jedi, there has only been one trailer so far.

Outside of short TV-spots in the weeks leading up to the release of the film, it’s unlikely there will be a third full trailer for The Last Jedi prior to its release on December 15.

Ticketing sites like Fandango already have exact Last Jedi showtimes listed for both December 14 and December 15. If fans buy tickets on Fandango tomorrow night, they will receive a free limited-edition Last Jedi poster.
