The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding beyond Netflix and theaters, with Runaways hitting Hulu and Cloak & Dagger coming to Freeform (formerly ABC Family) in 2018. In Cloak & Dagger, two young lovers will accidentally inherit superpowers, and though they may never meet the Avengers or fight Thanos in Infinity War, their show may have one of the biggest connections to the movie side of the MCU.

Ahead of New York Comic Con, Marvel has kicked off the celebration with four new posters hyping its TV shows coming in 2018. On the poster for Cloak & Dagger, the two young heroes stand in front of a neon sign for Roxxon Oil, one of the biggest conglomerates inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The company, which has ties to the Hand, has served as the connective tissue for many of Marvel’s movies and TV shows, with appearances in every Iron Man, 2012’s The Avengers, the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and a direct name-drop in the Netflix series Iron Fist. Roxxon’s presence in Cloak & Dagger is by far the biggest connecting bridge between the existing MCU and the new series.

Roxxon was previously shown in the trailer for Cloak & Dagger. But that it features prominently in the show’s slick new poster means Roxxon may have a bigger role in the series.

In Cloak & Dagger, two teenagers from different upbringings fall in love just as they become cursed with amazing superpowers. In the comics, Cloak and Dagger were introduced in an issue of Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man, and have since crossed paths with the likes of the X-Men, Iron Fist, Captain America, and Doctor Strange.

Meanwhile, another poster released by Marvel for New York Comic Con advertises the upcoming second season of Jessica Jones on Netflix. Nothing new is there, except for a confirmed premiere date of 2018.

Both Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger and Jessica Jones Season 2 will premiere on Freeform and Netflix respectively in 2018.
