'Supergirl' Looks Very Zack Snyder-Like in Season 3 Poster

The sun has set in National City. Supergirl, who went through a lot of emotional turmoil in the sophomore season of her CW series, is looking mighty dark and grim in a new poster for the show’s upcoming third season.

On Thursday, the network released a new poster for Season 3 of Supergirl, with the tagline “Flying Solo” and a much darker color palette.

“Flying Solo” strongly suggests Kara’s new single life after she and Mon-El (Chris Wood) had to give up being together in order to save the planet in the Season 2 finale. Emotionally devastated by what she’s sacrificed, Kara is giving up her human life and is going all-in on being the Girl of Steel.

Compared to the very colorful posters for Seasons 1 and 2, Supergirl Season 3 is doing its best impression of a Zack Snyder movie. She’ll bounce back, though. The CW shows tend not to have these big dramatic moments just for the sake of being darker and edgier.

Supergirl will return with a slightly more grim protagonist at its center. Hopefully, though, Kara will again become the beacon of hope she’s meant to be.

Supergirl Season 3 will premiere on October 9 at 8 p.m. Eastern.
