Stephen Colbert Is a Naked 'Westworld' Robot at the 2017 Emmys
Stephen Colbert just outed himself as a host at the 2017 Emmy Awards.
by Caitlin BuschThe 2017 Emmy Awards took a brief break from its usual glamor to flash host Stephen Colbert’s bare butt across the screen. Colbert, in a brief, prerecorded bit alongside Jeffrey Wright, pretended to be a Westworld host on Sunday night.
On Sunday night, Colbert “glitched” while on stage. Two white-clad Westworld employees quickly dragged the “defective host” off the stage and delivered him to Wright’s Bernard Lowe of Westworld.
In a spoof of Westworld’s famed naked robot interrogation scenes, Bernard attempted to fix Colbert’s glitch. He asked Colbert if he knew where he was, to which Colbert responded: “I’m gonna guess an abandoned Apple store.”
“Have you ever questioned the nature of your reality?” Bernard asked, throwing out one of Westworld’s famous quotes.
And, equally on brand, Colbert quipped, “Every day since November 8.”
Then, out of nowhere, Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), scantily clad in a sexy cowboy outfit, appeared, declaring himself a robot.
“Yes,” Burgess said. “I’m 100 percent a robot. Boop! Boop! Whatever. Now, if you’ll excuse me, Stephen, I gotta go rope some cowboys.”
Westworld is nominated for five awards — Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Thandie Newton), Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Anthony Hopkins), Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Evan Rachel Wood), and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Jeffrey Wright) — at the 2017 Emmys.
Colbert is totally a host, right?
