'The Flash' Season 4 Will Have One Thing No One Saw Coming

Barry Allen has zipped through the fabric of time and space and has defeated villains such as Savitar, Zoom, Captains Cold and Boomerang, Trickster, the Reverse-Flash, and more. But there’s one major obstacle the Flash will have to overcome: Couples therapy.

In the newest print issue of Entertainment Weekly, The Flash producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West (Candice Patton) will have to go through couples therapy when Barry returns from the ether of the Speed Force this season on the CW series.

“Barry and Iris keep comically clashing because she’s used to being in charge, and he’s used to being in charge, so they wind up going to couples therapy to work through it,” said Kreisberg. “The two of them with the therapist is some of the funniest stuff we have ever done, but it also leads to a deepening of their relationship.”

Both Barry and Iris have gone through a lot throughout The Flash, and the whole ordeal with Savitar last season would have put the nail in the coffin for virtually anyone else. But Barry and Iris persevered, which made it all the more heartbreaking when the two had to suffer through yet another setback when Barry had to sacrifice himself to the Speed Force in the Season 3 finale. But now, as the show races towards Season 4, it’s not a question whether or not Barry will return. It’s whether or not Barry and Iris will survive when he’s back.

The Flash will return to the CW Tuesday, October 10 at 8 p.m. Eastern.
