Thor: Ragnarok is already jam-packed with famous Marvel heroes like Hulk and Doctor Strange, but Marvel may have revealed a few more who are coming along for at least part of the ride. Potentially, an entire team of them.
On Thursday, ScreenRant explained that during their visit to the set of Thor: Ragnarok, they saw concept art featuring the Milano, the ship which the Guardians of the Galaxy call home.
Naturally, ScreenRant inquired about the piece of art, and producer Brad Winderbaum responded in a unsurprisingly vague, but still revealing, manner. “We’re definitely leaning into Jack [Kirby] more heavily than Guardians,” Winderbaum said. “There are elements of Guardians that will work their way into our film, both stylistically and narratively. In the sense that, like all the Earthbound heroes feel like they’re living and breathing in the same air, certainly now that we’re in space it feels, in a very [Marvel Cinematic Universe] way, that we’re living and breathing in the same air.”
Thor’s set to meet the Guardians for the first time in Avengers: Infinity War when they encounter him floating around in space, so this could easily be an incredibly limited cameo of them showing up at the end of the movie (though director Taika Waititi says the Infinity War footage isn’t a spoiler for his film). But, it’s still cool to see Marvel figuring out how to enhance the interconnected-ness of their cinematic universe. Hopefully, no matter what “elements of Guardians” appear in the film, they’ll feel like a natural fit.
Thor: Ragnarok comes out on November 3.
