New 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Music Video Has David Hasselhoff, Disco
Is James Gunn bored? Between developing Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and producing Infinity War, Gunn found time to delegate a bizarre — and kind of incredible — music video concept to Guardians director David Yarovesky.
The video stars David Hasselhoff and pretty much every character from Guardians (including Chris Pine being classically adorable at the very end) dancing around in shiny, ’70s-era space costumes. Complete with star effects and many silver-clad backup dancers, the video is as elaborate as it is goofy.
The song is called “Inferno” and it’s by a (fictional) band called the Sneepers off the Guardians 2 soundtrack. Sneepers, by the way, are an extraterrestrial from the Marvel Universe that hail from the planet Sneep, obviously.
The song is actually co-written by Gunn and score composer Tyler Bates. The video is clearly meant to riff on Meco’s disco-era Star Wars theme. On Twitter Sunday, Gunn took a bit of the credit for this totally insane three and a half minutes.
The music video is one of the bonus features that will come with the digital and Blu-ray release of Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2, out August 8.
