'Mr. Robot' Season 3 Trailer and Premiere Date Leonard Cohen Poem
The USA Network drama will return this October.
by Eric FranciscoMembers of fsociety, the trailer for Mr. Robot Season 3 is finally here. While the trailer was first uncovered by those who were dedicated enough to dive into an exhaustive trail of internet Easter eggs, which all started with cracking the morse code on new cast member Bobby Carnavale’s (Vinyl) necktie, the trailer for USA Network’s acclaimed dramatic thriller is now available to everyone on YouTube. And at the very end, the show’s season premiere is revealed: October 11.
Where to even begin with what’s going on? Set to a creepy voiceover that’s reciting the late Leonard Cohen’s “Democracy,” New York is pretty much turned upside down with lots of folks huddled around garbage fires on the street and some kind of martial law in effect. Many familiar faces return, including (of course) Elliot (Rami Malek), FBI Agent Dom DiPierro (Grace Gummer), Darlene (Carly Chaikan), and Martin Wallström as Tyrell Wellick, who shot Elliot in the Season 2 finale last summer. He’s now drinking hard liquor somewhere underground.
There’s also Whiterose (B.D. Wong), who has been upgraded to season regular, and it may be his minions that storm Elliot’s empty apartment. There’s also Carnavale making his debut in the series, whose character has got a real ‘70s porn cop vibe going on. Seriously, there’s a lot going on in this trailer.
And yes, just because he’s a hallucination doesn’t mean he’s going anywhere. There’s one shot of Christian Slater as Elliot’s father, Mr. Robot, who looks just a tiny bit haggard and dazed in his one shot in the trailer.
Mr. Robot returns to the USA Network on October 11.
