Batter up, puddins, Harley Quinn and the Joker are about to collide. A spin-off movie, rumored to be titled Harley Quinn vs. The Joker with Margot Robbie and Jared Leto reprising their scene-stealing villains from last year’s Suicide Squad, is expected to be announced this Saturday during the Warner Bros. panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Details are, obviously, still scarce regarding the project, but on Friday Screen Rant is reporting that DC head honcho Geoff Johns is expected to produce. Hopefully, the movie is nothing but two hours of Robbie beating up Leto, just as Harley Quinn did in the Injustice comics.
Lending credence to the film’s announcement is the peculiar logo the studio is sporting for its Comic-Con presence this year; the logo is made up of the same neon colors and graffiti that characterized the marketing for Suicide Squad last year. It’s an odd choice to recall a movie that did well enough at the box office but very poorly with critics, whereas Wonder Woman just came out a month ago.
Harley Quinn vs. The Joker is also expected to take place in the DC Extended Universe, which kicked off in 2013 with Man of Steel and continued in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and this year with Wonder Woman. This fall, Justice League will hit theaters on November 17.
