If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the footage from Blade Runner 2049 is it’s that Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is officially getting too old for this shit. Like Indiana Jones and Han Solo before him, Ford’s latest returning grouchy sci-fi/fantasy hero seems to be pissed that he’s still being asked questions about replicants. And that’s probably because he is one.
On Monday, Warner Bros released the second full-length trailer for Blade Runner 2049, showing off the gorgeousness of the film even more than previous footage. Visually, this film easily looks like the worthy successor to the 1982 original. But what about the story? Ryan Gosling’s Agent K is trying to track down Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard, while a bunch of cops and bad guys talk about a “key” that is needed to make more replicants…or something. Has Blade Runner 2049 already tipped its hand as to its basic plot? Because based on the trailer it seems like Agent K (Gosling) figures out that there are Replicants that have been allowed to age way past their four-year lifespan. And, the trailer heavily implies both he and Deckard are Replicants.
If this is the big twist of Blade Runner 2049? Hopefully, in terms of plot there’s a little bit more than just “everyone might be a replicant” going on here. Watch the gorgeous trailer below.
Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on October 6, 2017.
