In anticipation of the seventh and penultimate season of Game of Thrones premiering Sunday, HBO has released an epic recap trailer.
Over the course of 5 minutes and 25 seconds, it highlights all the relevant character arcs and plot points from the past six seasons.
It begins in Season 1, with Ned Stark waxing poetic on what it means to be a Stark. His “winter is coming” line is both nostalgic and a preview of Season 7, which will begin when winter has finally come.
It also highlights Petyr Baelish and Varys’s infamous musings on the nature of power — a trick of light, a thing men agree to believe, and a ladder of chaos.
Going into Season 7, Cersei sits on the Iron Throne, Jon Snow is the King in the North, and Daenerys Targaryen is finally claiming Westeros with Tyrion Lannister as her Hand of the Queen. This trailer highlights each of their rocky paths to their current positions.
