New photos of Game of Thrones Season 7 confirm that Bran Stark will be meeting the Night’s Watch in the first episode.
On Wednesday, HBO released photos from “Dragonstone,” the Season 7 premiere. Most are character shots of Cersei and Daenerys that have already made the rounds online. There’s another photo of Brienne and Podrick sparring in the Winterfell courtyard. But the most intriguing photo shows Bran’s traveling companion Meera Reed with members of the Night’s Watch.
It won’t be his first encounter with them, as Bran has previously met Sam Tarly. But now that Sam and Jon are both no longer at the Wall, the Night’s Watch is filled with strangers. If Bran is there to deliver the news about Jon’s true parents, he’s out of luck. Nobody there gives a damn.
But talking to members of the Night’s Watch will update Bran about Jon and Sansa’s current positions at Winterfell. Perhaps that will prompt Bran to head home. It will also give him the chance to assure them that Benjen Stark is still alive, sort of.
Here’s the photo of Meera with the Night’s Watch:
When he last appeared in Season 6, Bran used his visions to enter the Tower of Joy and witness his aunt Lyanna Stark giving birth to Jon Snow.
As far as the show has revealed, Bran is the only person who knows this important information. (Meera’s dad Howland Reed knows too, but he has yet to turn up). Another photo from “Dragonstone” confirms that Jon’s friend Dolorous Edd is still the Lord Commander.
Hopefully it means that Bran’s time at Castle Black will be conflict-free, since Dolorous Edd is loyal to Jon.
Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres July 16 on HBO.
