Antiope From 'Wonder Woman' Will Return in 'Justice League'

Praise the gods, for General Antiope will return this November in Justice League. After making a hell of an impression in Patty Jenkins’s epic AF Wonder Woman, Robin Wright has been confirmed to return onscreen as her inspiring Amazonian general later in 2017. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, actress Connie Nielsen — who plays Wonder Woman’s mother, Queen Hippolyta of Themyscira — revealed that she and Wright “got to do more in Justice League” in addition to their work together on Wonder Woman.

When asked if there is more to be seen of Hippolyta and Diana (Gal Gadot), Gadot responds: “Of course; mother and daughter relationship is always a beautiful but complex relationship. I think that there’s a lot more to explore.” To which Nielsen responded: “And [Robin Wright and I] got to do more in Justice League as well.” She then added, “We can’t say much,” but Wright chimed in: “You get some of the history.”

Because actors are restricted from spoiling their shiny new movies, it’s expected that the vague phrasing leaves the circumstances of General Antiope’s return unclear. Spoilers for Wonder Woman: Many fans were heartbroken to see General Antiope killed on the beach by the invading German army, but this news that Wright will return for Justice League — even if it’s a flashback or a dream sequence or whatever hack thing that will let her appear again — will be of minor comfort to everyone’s mourning.

Wonder Woman is in theaters now.
