Kelly Marie Tran’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi character, Rose Tico, joins the fight against the First Order as a maintenance worker in the Resistance — but she’ll also be accompanied by a sister named Paige.
In a major story in Vanity Fair, we learn that Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) will coach a gunner named Paige — as played by Vietnamese actress Veronica Ngo. Paige, like her sister Rose Tico (Tran), is a member of the Resistance, though it seems like both of them are pretty raw recruits.
Rose Tico will play a major part in The Last Jedi as she’s said to be the new character with the biggest role, “and her plotline involves a mission behind enemy lines with Boyega’s Finn.”
Earlier this year, at Star Wars Celebration, director Rian Johnson noted that “Rose gets pulled in a very big way into this adventure.”
Though Rose will travel with Finn to the likes of the casino city Canto Bight — and presumably encounter Benicio del Toro’s “DJ” in the process — it’s unclear how prominent a role Paige will play. At the very least, she’ll work with Poe in some capacity training as a gunner.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15.
