See Spider-Man’s POV of ‘Civil War’ in ‘Homecoming’ Trailers
On Wednesday morning, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were treated to not one but two new trailers for Jon Watts’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. In the new trailers for the coming-of-age superhero comedy, Peter (Tom Holland) shirks his responsibilities as New York’s neighborhood hero while battling Vulture (Michael Keaton), a working-class villain who salvages Chitauri tech in order to make his suit.
The international trailer begins with Spidey’s point-of-view during the big airport brawl in last year’s Captain America: Civil War. As if Spidey carried around a GoPro that no one saw, the webhead documents some of the battle’s craziest moments, like stealing Captain America’s shield and swinging away from Giant-Man. And it looks like Happy (Jon Favreau) was babysitting Peter the whole time he was there!
While these new trailers don’t give away as much as the notoriously spoilerific trailer from a few months ago, fans now have a better understanding of Vulture’s motivations and how he acquired his gear, as well as Stark’s “mentorship” over the young Peter Parker. Spider-Man: Homecoming may not be as big or as out there as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 or Thor: Ragnarok, but it is nice to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe come back down to Earth.
