Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons have come a long way from the little scamps they were at the end of Game of Thrones Season 1 — and new photos from Season 7 reveal they’ve grown yet again.
On Monday, Entertainment Weekly released seven new photos from the upcoming seventh season. This is the second batch of Season 7 photos that have come out, after the first batch included Sam and Gilly reading about Azor Ahai at the Citadel and Jon Snow visiting his mother Lyanna Stark’s tomb.
The latest batch of photos reveal less new information, but the most notable takeaway is Dany riding a fucking enormous dragon into battle. Previously, Game of Thrones director Matt Shakman described the dragons as being the size of 747s this year, and it looks like the rumors of their size have not been exaggerated.
Below Daenerys and her dragon, there’s some sort of battle going on, but there isn’t enough background to pinpoint where it’s taking place. There’s some water and what appears to be a beach. Is this Dany taking the island of Dragonstone from any Baratheon stragglers, or is she making landfall in Westeros?
The photos also included a shot of Jon Snow saddling up in the Winterfell courtyard, either leaving or returning as snow falls. From his backward glance — perhaps at Sansa bidding him goodbye with Littlefinger at her side — he’s most likely leaving.
And the last, perhaps most notable, photo features Arya Stark on a horse outside a door in a stone wall that could possibly signify a return to Winterfell.
Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres on July 16 on HBO.
