His name is Oliver Queen. After five years on an island, he had only goal: survive American Ninja Warrior. On May 25, as part of NBC’s “Red Nose Day,” the hit athletic competition series American Ninja Warrior will hold a special “celebrity edition” episode in which comedians like Nikki Glaser, broadcast journalist Natalie Morales, retired MLB player Nick Swisher, and more will compete for a chance to climb Mount Midoriyama. One of the contenders will be the Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell from Arrow.
The episode won’t premiere until May 25, but NBC has released a sneak peek at Amell’s exceptional performance. Amell, who implemented many Ninja Warrior exercises into his DC television series, like the salmon ladder, makes the whole thing look easy, even though his limbs totally have to be on fire.
For the 2017 special, every celebrity competitor is coached by a veteran American Ninja Warrior competitor. New Jersey native Kacy Catanzaro, who became the first woman to complete the qualifying course on America Ninja Warrior Season 6 coached Amell, and accompanies him during his trial.
Amell has been talking about competing in American Ninja Warrior for a while now. He posted pictures of his trial on Twitter during filming, and fans will get to see if the DC superhero can make it on May 25. Check out the sneak peek below.
