Prometheus Doesn't Need to Be Around to Tear Team Arrow Apart
It looks like it's just going to be the two of them, stranded, injured, and in danger.
We know a couple things about how Arrow’s recently resumed fifth season is going to wrap up. We know that pretty much everyone who has ever made an impact in the series is going to return, and we know that at least two heroes are going to survive Prometheus’s wrath. We also know that the next episode is going to really explore Oliver and Felicity’s breakup.
It seems like a natural time to revisit the past, because even though Prometheus wasn’t even in Wednesday’s episode, he managed to divide the mom and dad of Team Arrow in an unprecedented way — and then plunge Felicity and Oliver into grave danger.
Spoilers ahead for Arrow Season 5, Episode 19: “Dangerous Liaisons”
Now that Prometheus’s real identity has been made public, everybody is hunting for Adrian Chase in their own way. For Oliver and his team, that means working with A.R.G.U.S., even though A.R.G.U.S. is shady. For Felicity, though, who has already lost so much to Prometheus and has seen the lengths Oliver will go to achieve justice, it means something else. She’s working with the hacker group Helix and her elevator-murdering friend Alena. They’re also super sketchy, and they want Felicity to help break into an A.R.G.U.S. black site before giving her the MacGuffin technology that will locate Prometheus.
Working against Felicity is taxing for Team Arrow, especially Oliver, given their history. Though Prometheus doesn’t show up (in person, at least), he’s further driven a rift between two former friends, lovers, and allies. When they meet at the end of the episode, Felicity may have gotten what she was after, but nobody is happy.
Then Prometheus blows them up. And, based on the trailer for the next episode, it looks like it’s just going to be the two of them, stranded, injured, and in danger. It’s a bad time for them to not to be on the same page, meaning it’s either a good time or a frickin’ terrible time to rehash the worst moment of their past.
Arrow airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern on The CW. The fifth season finale will air on May 24 at the same time.
