Here Are the Ingredients to the Starbucks Dragon Frappuccino
There's a new Frapp in town, ready to slay.
The internet had a collective brain freeze last week with the limited-edition, absurdly sweet Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino. But the pink-and-purple potion’s run ended on April 23, leaving a Venti-sized void for many. Never fear, the unofficial and equally colorful Dragon Frappuccino will satisfy the need for a mythical Frapp. Not to mention, it actually has caffeine and (most likely) won’t make you sick.
Resourceful baristas, under pressure from the excessive hype, and with little to no means of whipping up a Unicorn Frapp, reportedly invented a Dragon Frapp to pacify the crowds. After all, necessity is the mother of invention dragons.
The Dragon Frapp is rumored to be less sweet and not as difficult to make, the two major complaints leveled toward its predecessor, which means you probably won’t get sick, and your barista probably won’t yell at you when you order it.

You will, however, have to give your barista more information about what goes in the Barney-esque concoction. The gist seems to be a Green Tea Frappuccino with a berry swirl. But since it isn’t officially on the Starbucks menu, have some fun with it and know Khaleesi is proud.
Dragon Frappuccino Recipe (Roughly)
Green Tea Frappuccino
The base, and what gives the beverage its green hue, is a Green Tea Frappuccino. What’s in that, you ask? The basic nuts and bolts of a Frapp: ice, milk, crème Frappuccino syrup, vanilla syrup, and classic syrup. The ingredients of those syrups is some combination of “Water, Sugar, Salt, Natural And Artificial Flavour, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid.” A Matcha Tea Blend, which is essentially sugar and ground Japanese green tea, is what makes this, well, green tea-like.
Something Berry Swirled
While it’s not totally clear what the bright purple swirl is, we think it’s safe to assume it’s a berry syrup. Perhaps it’s similar to the raspberry syrup that was in the Pokémon GO Frappuccino. Or, if you find the fairy tale of Starbucks locations that have leftover unicorn fixings, that would work, too. (If you do happen on one of these mystical places, cross your fingers they have some of the Unicorn Frapp sprinkles on hand.)
Optional Add-Ons
- Some sippers have mentioned an added dusting of vanilla bean powder. (We find it a bit unnecessary.)
- Top it off with a puff of smoke (whipped cream).
- Decorate your cup accordingly.
