Ultron humbly wanted to destroy mankind in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but after fusing with the Mega Man villain Sigma in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, he’s upped the stakes. Now, he craves those Infinity Stones everybody keeps talking about so he can exterminate “all biological life.”
The upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite features a smattering of heroes from the Marvel Universe — including the Hulk, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Thor, and oddballs like Rocket Raccoon — teaming up with various heroes from Capcom games like Resident Evil, Mega Man, Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, and Strider.
To accomplish his goals, Ultron teams up with Sigma, an android (“reploid,” technically) who has been Mega Man’s nemesis for years. Using the Space and Reality Infinity Stones, they fuse into one being while also merging their separate dimensions.
“Heroes of both dimensions,” Ultron/Sigma says. “Welcome to ours!” And all of those heroes will have to team up to fight this bizarre big bad fusion.
There’s no indication, yet, if Thanos is going to be in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. If he is, chances are he’s not going to be thrilled that Ultron is stealing his Infinity Stone shtick.
