When the Avengers gather together for the fourth time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers 4, they’ll most likely have already gone through some bad times in Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently confirmed that the reason Avengers 4 doesn’t have a public title yet is because it’s a spoiler.
Feige has said that, yes, the title of Avengers 4 is a spoiler for what goes down in its prequel, Avengers: Infinity War. For a while, Avengers 4 was running around with the title of Infinity War Part 2, but that changed when Marvel said it wasn’t accurate, since they’re really two separate movies. But, the two films are certainly going to be connected; whatever happens in Infinity War will have a huge impact on 4.
“Yeah, for sure,” Feige said when asked if the official title of Avengers 4 is a spoiler for Infinity War. He provided nothing beyond that, but a mere three words are enough to merit questions about exactly what that spoiler might be.
Supposedly, the upcoming Avengers adventures see the team go up against the Mad Titan Thanos and the Infinity Stones that have been popping up around the MCU ever since Captain America: The First Avenger. But there’s very little to know beyond that, so it seems Marvel fans will have to wait until the events of Infinity War unfold to get a clear answer on the title of Avengers 4.
Avengers: Infinity War is set to premiere in theaters on May 4, 2018 with Avengers 4 scheduled for May 2019.
