Jon Snow is one of the noblest characters in Game of Thrones, so it would seem obvious that he’s murdered far fewer people than the psychotic Ramsay Bolton. At least, that’s what you’d think, but a new infographic compiling data on deaths in Game of Thrones actually posits Jon Snow as the most deadly character.
As an important caveat, the infographic only counts deaths of named characters, rather than every random Wildling or Lannister goon. So, when it comes to familiar faces, Jon has killed the Wildling Orell, Qhorin Halfhand, Karl Tanner (the traitorous Night’s Watch brother at Craester’s Keep), Janos Slynt, Mance Rayder, and his own would-be murderers Alliser Thorne, Olly, Marsh, and Yarwyck.
Ramsay has killed characters like his father Roose and the Wildling Osha — but the majority of his kills have been unnamed girls and castle servants. In terms of murdering plot-significant characters, Jon Snow is officially more lethal than the sociopath Ramsay.
The infographic also tracks kills by House, with the Lannisters taking the crown for most kills. Although, the supposedly more noble Starks lag behind them by just one kill. By the end of Season 6, it maintains, just 78 of the series 215 named characters are still alive. By gender, 89 men have died and 38 women. The most common causes of death include “beheaded,” “stabbed repeatedly,” “thrown from a ledge,” “shot with an arrow,” and “throat slit.” The least common cause of death is “burned alive with molten gold” — and of course, Daenerys’s brother Viserys is the sole claim to fame for that fate.
