Yackle-Gackle! That trusty breed of snow-lizards, known as Tauntauns, are back, and one such creature’s headbutting heroics is the secret show-stopper of the new Star Wars: Battlefront II trailer.
On Wednesday, a leaked trailer for the video game Star Wars: Battlefront II surfaced online ahead of its expected release at Star Wars Celebration later this week. Many news outlets — including The Verge — and have pointed out the inclusion of multiple eras of the Star Wars universe seemingly coalescing in gameplay. Darth Maul is here, as are Kylo Ren and a female Imperial officer (maybe a stormtrooper) who is talking about “the day the real war began,” suggesting one of the POV characters in the game will be a vengeful member of the Empire, or perhaps the First Order. Battlefront II also seems to mark the first time Rey will be featured prominently in a Star Wars video game, not counting her inclusion in the now-discontinued Disney Infinity game.
But all of this pales in comparison to the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment when a Tauntaun headbutts a snowtrooper like a boss. Because these guys are known at freeze before you hit the first marker, we forget how awesome they are. If you don’t love Tauntaun’s, we’l see you in hell.
