After being the only human survivor of the spaceship Prometheus in the film of the same name, you’d think Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) would be front and center in a sequel. And now, in the latest trailer for Alien: Covenant, she’s finally made an appearance, barely.
On Monday, 20th Century Fox released a new short trailer for Alien: Covenant. Though there isn’t one clear shot of Dr. Shaw, her dog tags are glimpsed for a second, as his what is believed to be a hologram of her steering the ship she commandeered at the end of Prometheus. Fans on social media have already taken screenshots of the exact moment where the hologram of Shaw is thought to appear. It’s not much and only for a second, but it’s the first visual sign that the protagonist of the previous Alien franchise film — Prometheus — will figure into the plot of Covenant somehow.
The good bet on Dr. Shaw’s involvement in Alien: Covenant is connected to the return of the android David. Because David helped to create the creatures from Prometheus, it seems he’ll be continuing his insidious plots to make more monsters, which might result in the classic xenomorphs from the original Alien.
