Elon Musk Has a Theory About Chemtrails

And it's pretty screwy.

It looks like Elon Musk hopped aboard the chemtrail conspiracy theory bandwagon on Saturday afternoon. His bizarre series of tweets, asserting that chemtrails are aliens’ way of telling humans the secret to teleportation, may come as little surprise to some people. After all, the SpaceX founder and CEO has been known to entertain esoteric theories from time to time. In 2016 the billionaire transportation magnate even proposed that we are living in a simulation.

“The odds that we’re in base reality is one in billions,” Musk told the audience at Code Conference in 2016.

Despite Musk’s history with dystopic theories about A.I., this latest assertion is most likely a joke. After all, he made it on April 1.

“Technology breakthrough: turns out chemtrails are actually a message from time-traveling aliens describing the secret of teleportation,” reads Musk’s first tweet in the series. And while it’s not totally implausible, this simplistic explanation is not quite in character for a person who often writes technically detailed tweets about rocket engineering concerns.

In case there was any confusion, Musk’s second tweet in the series breaks the illusion that the first one was real.

Even though it’s 99 percent likely that these tweets were an April Fool’s Day prank, the fact remains that Elon Musk’s history suggests that he is the kind of person who might say something like this and really mean it.
