Rey may not follow in Luke Skywalker’s footsteps to become a Jedi Knight exactly, but in new art from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, she looks to be rocking new duds that echo prequel-era Jedi robes.
On Wednesday night, Reddit users noticed a new image of Rey had appeared on a Star Wars t-shirt over on the the Disney Parks Blog. This looks similar to the style Rey had in the image for the Star Wars toy box that surfaced back in February. But now that we can see her whole tunic, the entire getup is looking very classically Jedi Knight-ish. Some redditors are debating whether or not these are in fact Jedi robes, or if her outfit is simple amalgamation of her scavenger gear from The Force Awakens combined with darker grey outfit she wore at the end of that movie.
Fan are also debating as to whether or not Rey will get a new ligthsaber after rocking the Skywalker family heirloom she seems to be swinging in this new image. Keeping this famous one seems to be the likely bet, but who knows? After all, if she does become a Jedi, most padawan learners are supposed to build their own sabers at some point.
The new image doesn’t reveal too much, but it is inspiringly heroic. So, if there’s a spoiler here, it might simply be this: Rey is, thankfully, still one of the good guys.
The Last Jedi opens December 15, 2017.
