Being born on Mars can make the gravity of Earth hard to take, even for a soldier like Bobbie Draper. In tonight’s episode of The Expanse, “Cascade,” Martian soldier Bobbie Draper discovers firsthand the perils involved with trying to move around on Earth as though she were born there. And it’s not just the heavier breathing, and slower steps caused by the intense gravity. Other things are pressing on Bobbie, too.
A major plot point in this season of The Expanse involves what Bobbie saw on the surface of Ganymede. In the book, Caliban’s War, a pseudo-monster wipes out her entire squad, meaning she is the only one who can prove that a third party is involved in the impending war between Earth and Mars. At this point on the show, Bobbie has let slip to a committee that there was a soldier without a vac-suit present on the surface of Ganymede. Her superiors don’t want her spreading this around, so now they’re going to lock her up. Will Gunnery Sergeant Bobbie Draper take this treatment and chill out in her room until powers-that-be send her back to Mars? Or will she brave the outside world and its punishing gravity?
Here’s the exclusive preview clip of Bobbie receiving a dressing-down after her testimony.
The Expanse airs tonight on Syfy at 10 p.m. EST.
