The mad scientists cause a hullabaloo to get their newest worker bee to fall into their renewed Satellite of Love trap, and boy does it work. The first official teaser trailer for Netflix’s upcoming Mystery Science Theater 3000 revamp has arrived, and it looks appropriately cheesy and ready to take on the internet’s inevitable obsession.
Felicia Day’s Dr. Kinga Forrester has taken over her father’s famous Mystery Science Theater 3000 experiment to test the effects of bad B-movies on a captured Jonah Heston (Jonah Ray) as the new Joel. Jonah is lured into the trap by Forrester and Patton Oswalt’s Son of TV’s Frank putting out a fake and incredibly dramatic distress signal that Jonah responds to.
It seems the first movie the crew will be taking on is Reptilicus, a 1961 Danish-American film about a monster wreaking havoc in Copenhagen. Jonah will be joined by the original ‘bots, who look to be as wonderfully sarcastic and sassy as ever. All-in-all, it seems fans of the original MST3K should be hyped.
The new Mystery Science Theater 3000 premieres on Netflix April 14.
