Jon Snow’s gruff right-hand man Tormund Giantsbane isn’t exactly a romantic, but Game of Thrones Season 6 saw the wildling making moon-eyes at Brienne when the two crossed paths. A new fan theory, however, suggests that Brienne might not be Tormund’s only secret romance — and Tormund could be the father of a fan favorite character.
The story begins with possible bestiality, as these things do. One of Tormund’s nicknames is “[husband to bears]”(https://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?/topic/80928-tormund-husband-to-bears/). In the books, this is because he’s trailed by a rather infamous legend in which he has a drunken one-night stand and wakes up with scratches and a bear pelt. The implication is that it was a bear, although prominent Game of Thrones videographer Alt Shift X suggest that this is an exaggeration. The real woman in question, he posits, is Maege Mormont, mother of child ruler and fierce badass Lyanna Mormont, who made her onscreen debut in Season 6.
The Mormonts preside over Bear Island, and Maege Mormont is often known as “the she-bear.” Curiously, it’s unclear who has fathered her daughters — but in Tormund’s crazy bear story, he mentions that “the she-bear” has borne him cubs. Could Tormund be the father of everyone’s favorite kickass child ruler who takes no shit from anyone?
