Gwen Stacy might be Spider-Woman, but Mary Jane Watson is donning more mantles than just Spidey’s this summer. Marvel just announced a new string of variant cover specials for the month of June, with every single one of the 22 selected issues featuring a reimagined superhero (or villain) in the form of everyone’s favorite redhead.
“Both the Gwen Stacy Variant Program and this month’s Venomized Variant Program were such runaway successes, we couldn’t help but try to top ourselves,” David Gabriel, Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing, said in a press release. “And with Chip Zdarsky and Adam Kubert’s new Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man book on the horizon, the timing couldn’t have been better to put the spotlight on fan-favorite Mary Jane Watson.”
This variant special extravaganza is in celebration of Zdarsky and Kubert’s upcoming Peter Parker series, and will take over the covers of (but not be limited to, since this is just the first wave): All-New Wolverine #21, Avengers #8, Champions #9, Doctor Strange #22, Gwenpool, The Unbelievable #17, Hulk #7, Invincible Iron Man #8, Iron Fist #4, Spider-Gwen #21, The Mighty Captain Marvel #6, The Punisher #13, Venom #151, All-New Guardians of the Galaxy #3, Black Bolt #2, Captain America: Steve Rogers #18, Daredevil #21, Deadpool #32, I Am Groot #2, Mighty Thor #20, Secret Warriors #3, X-Men Blue #5, and X-Men Gold #5.
