Jack Sparrow Has Pissed Off Everyone in New 'Pirates' Trailer
Is there anyone across the seven seas who Captain Jack Sparrow hasn’t made an enemy of? The first full-length trailer for the fifth film in Disney’s Pirates series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, premiered March 2. The trailer gives audiences their first look at a recognizable Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), yet another young-love story, and a bit of an explanation for why Jack is being hunted by yet another dangerous immortal with a bone to pick.
It turns out Javier Bardem’s Captain Salazar is “filled with rage” after a young Jack Sparrow destroyed his ship and condemned Salazar and his crew to what looks to be a zombie-ghost-pirate life where they’re rotting away from the inside.
Supposedly, the dead now rule the sea, and the young British soldier Henry (Brenton Thwaites) has been tasked with finding Jack for Salazar. Oh, and so has Geoffrey Rush’s Captain Barbossa. And Orlando Bloom will pop back up as a barnacle-clad Will Turner, captain of the Flying Dutchman.
Somewhere in the middle of this mess will be a plot involving the trident of Poseidon.
“I’m not looking for trouble,” Kaya Scodelario’s bodice-busting Carina — Henry’s love interest — tells Jack as they shimmy through a back alley, to which Jack responds: “What a horrible way to live.”
The final scene in the trailer is of young Carina removing some of her heavier clothes so she can swim to land and Jack Sparrow encouraging her to get naked. So, at least Jack’s gained some class since the last Pirates movie premiered in 2011.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales premieres May 26.
