Tom Holland Burns His 'Infinity War' Script to Appease Marvel

by Emily Gaudette

Marvel is so protective of its secrets that even the youngest members of its MCU cast are afraid to piss the company off. Tom Holland, the British actor who plays Spider-Man, evidently forgot to hand in his Avengers: Infinity War script before leaving the set, so to head off any angry producers, he posted video evidence over the weekend of the script going into a furnace. “Job done,” he says, his face not really registering humor.

MCU actors have always made jokes about Marvel and Disney’s tight-lipped demeanor, but underneath that humor lives a fat stack of non-disclosure agreements and the threat of being sued by one of the most powerful companies in the world. Marvel spoilers are more than simple fan teases; they’re highly contested cultural products, and Tom Holland probably knows that better than most.

As for the details that went up in smoke in Holland’s apartment, we have a long laundry list of characters confirmed for the epic MCU team-up film, and Marvel has said the movie focuses a majority of its run-time on Thanos and his two daughters, Gamora and Nebula. How Spider-Man will be able to help during an intergalactic battle is anyone’s guess, but fans are beyond excited to see what it looks like.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4, 2018.
