Other than Jar Jar, slapstick humor has never had a place in a galaxy far, far away. But the Star Wars universe won’t stay free of dumb jokes for long.
The same people behind the Scary Movie franchise are making a Star Wars parody film, which is expected to begin shooting in Fall 2017.
Star Worlds Episode XXXIVE=MC2: The Force Awakens the Last Jedi Who Went Rogue, a mouthful that might be a little too on the nose, will be written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. The duo was responsible for the Scary Movie franchise, the blockbuster and fantasy film spoof, Epic Movie, and the Twilight knock-off, Vampires Suck. No doubt, Star Worlds will be of the same weird caliber.
The Force Awakens the Last Jedi Who Went Rogue is the second film in a two-year first look deal between Covert Media and Broken Road Production. The first is Resurface, an underwater action thriller directed by Paul Franklin.
The Star Worlds parody will be executive produced by Covert’s Elissa Friedman, Media Content Capital’s Sasha Shapiro and Anton Lessine, and Broken Road’s Jeremy Stein.
Covert Media will finance the project and launch worldwide sales in Berlin.
A premiere date has yet to be set.
