Bumblebee Battles Optimus in 'Transformers: The Last Knight' Trailer

And you thought you were worried for Bumblebee's life before.

A new trailer for the upcoming Transformers: The Last Knight is scheduled to air during Sunday night’s Super Bowl, but the thrilling spot has already dropped online a couple days early. It features some gnarly chrome-on-chrome action as fan-favorite Bumblebee battles Optimus Prime, who somehow has turned into a villain rather than a stalwart hero. The whole tone of the upcoming sequel in the never ending series is rather apocalyptic, especially with the former leader of the Autobots now attacking his friends for unexplained reasons.

elIt’s safe to say that the story of The Last Knight will retrofit a bit of plot from the ‘80s cartoon. The knightly title references the appearance of both King Arthur and Merlin into the story (yes, that Arthur and Merlin), but it also seems likely that a bit of Hate Plague, a pretty self-explanatory disease from the show, has infected Optimus and turned him into a red-tinged rage monster:

But by and large, the most interesting part of this TV spot is the problematic battle between Bumblebee and Optimus, who is basically twice his size. Yet again, we’re compelled to worry for the fun-loving yellow bot’s safety movie after movie.

Check out the spot during the Super Bowl this Sunday, and catch the next installment in the Transformers saga when The Last Knight crashes into theaters June 2017.
