'Kingsman' Star Wants a Crossover Film With Deadpool

by Caitlin Busch

The Kingsman might be a little less resilient than Deadpool, but they certainly never back down from a challenge. The star of 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, Taron Egerton, was recently asked what comic book character he’d most like to see his character, Eggsy Unwin, team up with in a crossover film. His expected answer: everyone’s favorite Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool.

“I guess the tone of Deadpool would probably lend itself best,” Egerton said to MTV. “Some of the [other comics] might be a little bit more family oriented, whereas Kingsman and Deadpool are both pretty ‘R.’ So, I guess, maybe that’d work quite well.”

There are few action films anymore that wouldn’t want to attach their names to Deadpool. After a Golden Globe nomination and an explosion of positive critical reviews, Deadpool has raked in the kind of attention that Kingsman and its upcoming sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, would most likely kill for.

Kingsman, directed by Matthew Vaughn, is loosely based on the 2012 comic series The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. “Loosely based” is being generous, as the film takes the basic premise and twists it into something less family oriented, but also something incredibly fun.

As for what Eggsy, the misfit Brit with a heart of gold and fighting skills to rival Wade Wilson’s, would do with Deadpool at his side, Egerton isn’t sure.

“I dread to think what those boys would get up to,” he said.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle premieres in theaters October 6.
