One of the weirdest new characters in Rogue One had to have been Saw Gerreras Jedha henchman, Edrio Two Tubes. He’s the beady-eyed background guy who both ferries defected Imperial pilot Bodhi Rook into Gerrera’s clandestine mountain headquarters and captures Jyn, Cassian, Chirrut, and Baze on the streets of Jedha City. We don’t get much of an explanation about what his deal is besides doing Saw’s bidding, but a new interview with Lucasfilm Story Groud head honcho Pablo Hidalgo gave us some revealing details about the sex life of old Two Tubes.
In the lead up to the release of Rogue One we knew that Edrio had something called an eggmate” named Benthic, who we assumed was something akin to a brother of sorts for their species called the Tognath. Hidalgo chatted with StarWars.com about these little details found in the new book he wrote, Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide, and explained that Edrio and Benthic aren’t exactly like the concept of hereditary brothers as we know it.
Hidalgo said:
Tognath hatch from eggs that nurture in a suspension jelly. While in that jelly, two or more eggs might graft together and create a bond that continues throughout their life. But, those eggs don’t have to come from the same parent.
It seems like Tognath are into some potentially freaky polyamorous relationships, but it’s for the good of the species, suspension jelly and all. Here’s hoping we get some weird eggmate rom-com in a spinoff book or comic. The world needs to know about the sex life of Edrio Two Tubes.
