What Will Happen in 'John Wick 2', Based Solely on These New Photos
Baba Yaga is back and is more Wick-tastic than ever.
One of the most unlikely action hits of 2015 is about to get one of the best balls-to-the-wall, action-filled sequels of 2017, and we have the photos to prove it. John Wick: Chapter 2 hits theaters on February 2, and to get ready for the continuing adventures of formerly retired dog-owner assassin John Wick (the one and only Keanu “Don’t Call Me the One” Reeves), movie studio Lionsgate has released new stills to whet our appetite for more bespoke destruction. You can almost say it’s re-lit.
They’ve also released an official synopsis. Heres what the Wick man gets himself into in Chapter 2 according to the Man:
In this next chapter following the 2014 hit, legendary hitman John Wick [Keanu Reeves] is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.
That sounds ridiculously awesome, and the photos are too, but they unfortunately lack any actual context besides looking completely badass. So for the uninitiated, here’s a rough idea of what’s going to happen in John Wick: Chapter 2 based on these pics.
Wick’s there, at his baller house in suburban New Jersey just minding his own business, probably playing with his new puppy, until somebody knocks on his door unannounced.
It’s actor Riccardo Scamarcio as Santino, the assassin who will presumably go rogue and try to take over the international assassins guild. He figures, take out Wick first and assert dominance over all the other assassins. Side note: Wick must be pissed that Santino caught him in his casual attire. Also where’s his new dog?
Wick, sensing something fishy, heads to the Continental Hotel to ask main assassin dude Winston what the deal is with Santino. Like the incident with Ms. Perkins in the first Wick, Winston probably tells him to calm down and just chill, but they know that something is afoot.
Laurence Fishburne plays the awesomely named Bowery King, a notorious crime lord who dresses like a hobo and hangs out with pigeons. Once Wick senses Santino is playing the international assassins guild against him, Wick has to ask the bad guys for help.
Wick suits up, comes out of retirement, and messes this dude up.
Once Wick gains the Bowery King’s trust, BK loses the homeless guy attire, invites Wick into his lair, and and puts on what looks like a sick silky smoking jacket.
At a stop at the Continental, Wick chats with a fellow assassin played by legendary Spaghetti Western actor Franco Nero.
Taking his cues from the Bowery King, Wick sets off into the night to try and wrestle power away from Santino and look good doing it.
Obviously it isn’t as easy as he thought. Hopefully this is just some comic relief and Wick slips and falls into a puddle because god help whoever made Baba Yaga’s suit all dirty.
Santino, having taken over the assassins guild, stops and brags to everyone how awesome he is. Little does he know that Wick has other plans.
Santino is so vain (or paranoid) that his pad is made up entirely of mirrors.
Common plays the head of security for a crime lord named Ares (played by Ruby Rose), who obviously wants a piece of the assassins pie — so she aligns herself with Santino.
It’s good to know that the head of security for a major crime lord takes public transportation.
Wick figures out where Santino is hiding, apparently in Europe, and goes to set things right.
He faces some stiff opposition from Ares and her goons, but needless to say these guys are probably toast once they meet the Wick man.
This is presumably from the final showdown between Wick, Santino, and Ares. I think we know who gets out alive. ..
… it’s Wick.
