Superman and Batman Go to War Again in 'Injustice 2' Trailer
Superman and Batman just can’t get over their differences. In the new story trailer for Injustice 2, Superman is still serving time for his tyrannical rule while Batman, who led the Insurgency against Superman, has sort of become the evil he fought against. And both will beat each other silly while known Superman bad guy Brainiac assumes power over this alternate DC Universe.
The new game, a sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us and developed by Mortal Kombat creators NetherRealm Studios, adds new characters to the fray like Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Gorilla Grodd, Poison Ivy, and the return of Damien Wayne as the hooded Robin (a costume familiar to players of the Batman: Arkham games). The trailer also reveals the game’s ultimate villain, Brainiac, revealed to be the mysterious narrator who voices over the trailer.
Besides being mega tons of fun to play, DC’s Injustice also spawned a long-running comic book series that went deep into how the violent Injustice universe came to form. Writer Brian Buccellato told Inverse awhile back that he enjoyed “the opportunity to focus on a wide range of characters” and “see the world through different eyes.” “It’s the ability to bring in all these characters and see how this horrific reality unfolds,” he said, citing a shocking plot development in which Alfred, Batman’s longtime butler, father figure, and ally, was killed.

Injustice 2 will be released May 19 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
