War is coming to The Walking Dead, and the AMC drama’s seventh season will spend its second half gearing up for it. In a new synopsis from AMC, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) will be “preparing for war” against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) by reaching out to leaders of several outposts, including the Kingdom’s charismatic figurehead Ezekiel (Khary Payton).
Returning to AMC on February 12, Rick will begin forming his alliance with the Kingdom, led by Ezekiel, and Hilltop, led by Gregory (Xander Berkeley), against Negan and his Saviors. But with so much on the line, Rick will undoubtedly learn how much it takes to find common ground against a common enemy.
The monster-hit zombie drama turned (and bashed in) heads last fall with the introduction of Negan, the show’s newest and most brutal antagonist ever. In the series Negan has control over several outposts like Ezekiel’s Kingdom and Gregory’s Hilltop, oftentimes shaking them down like a Chicago gangster.
After Negan devastated Rick and his group in Alexandria all throughout last fall — like killing off Glenn and Abraham — Rick has had enough. But when it comes to Negan in a head-to-head war, the show teases that “no amount of planning” will be enough.
