The next season of Voltron Legendary Defender will premiere January 20 on Netflix, and a new trailer shows how intense the war will be against Zarkon and his Galra Empire.
After being separated in a wormhole in last season’s cliffhanger finale, the five Paladins — plus Princess Allura and her lovable advisor Coran! — reunite in Season 2 to form Voltron once more. But they’ll have to be quick, because as the Season 2 trailer shows, Zarkon isn’t messing around anymore and can get to the heroes wherever they are in the galaxy.
“Zarkon keeps finding us,” whispers Voltron leader Shiro to the team. “It’s like, he knows how to track us down.”
The Season 2 trailer is intense and full of action, but there’s still light moments of comedy, as one should expect from the show’s creative team that also produced Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra on Nickelodeon.
Still, things get heated in Season 2. After quickly revealing all kinds of new monsters, Robeasts, and even a mysterious ally, the very end of the new trailer shows Shiro — in some sort of cosmic spectral form — running head-first to Zarkon in what could only be a battle as epic as it is personal.
