The Russian 'Wonder Woman' Trailer Shows New Combat Footage
Diana Prince’s Wonder Woman won’t be spending nearly as much time with her loved ones if the Russians have anything to say about it.
The second official international trailer for DC’s Wonder Woman, this one in Russian, recycles a lot of the same footage that audiences have already been provided with from the other trailers. But other than being dubbed in Russian, there are a couple of notable differences to be picked out. A lot of that probably has to do with the international trailer being almost a full minute shorter than the original. It has less time for details.
Mainly, the differences have to do with the balance between action and the more personal side of things. While the original trailer isn’t too heavy handed on the romance, this international trailer makes it look like a bit of a soppy love story. There are fewer longing looks — the ones that are still there are shorter — and far more bullets. Diana’s interaction with her mother, Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons, is much less pronounced.
Clearly, whoever cut the new trailer thinks Russian audiences are less interested in personal details and more interested with Wonder Woman’s boyfriend, Steve Trevor, flying biplanes and Diana Prince herself kicking butt.
See if Wonder Woman manages to offer a realistic balance between personal relationships and hand-to-hand combat when the film premieres on November 17, 2017.
