Watch Bill Shine in the New 'Doctor Who' Season 10 Trailer

Whovians around the world have been thirsting for more of the enigmatic alien known as the Doctor. It’s been 365 days since we’ve seen our Gallifreyan friend, and fans will only have to wait a few more hours to satisfy their cravings. Beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern, BBC America will broadcast the latest installment of Doctor Who’s annual Christmas special, The Return of Doctor Mysterio. As an added treat, the company dropped a Season 10 teaser, giving us our first in-depth look at Pearl Mackie, who plays Bill, the Doctor’s newest companion.

Mackie was cast following Jenna Coleman’s exit from the series last year. In the minute-long preview, we see Bill travel through time and space with the Doctor and a humanoid cyborg named Nardole (who is played by Matt Lucas and first appeared in last year’s Christmas special — The Husbands of River Song).

The trailer promises plenty of shenanigans in addition to epic period costumes and new creatures as part of Steven Moffat’s farewell tour as the series’s show runner.

Bill looks a bit gobsmacked throughout the teaser. But who can blame her, as it looks like they’re pop smack in the midst of a war with the Daleks. Despite it all, Bill seems more than ready to enthusiastically follow the (arguably) crazy older man across the universe.

So what can we expect from Bill? Only time will tell, but if you’re like me, you might feel a bit nostalgic for Donna Noble’s spunk as Bill bombards the Doctor with questions.

Although we only get to spend just a short time with the Doctor tonight, we won’t have to wait another year for the next encounter. The Doctor and the TARDIS will materialize in the spring of 2017 for what promises to be a fun-filled season.
